FUTSAL - KIWISPORT

It's Monday and room 17 has it's weekly FUTSAL lessons with Pat from Kiwisport. Today the children got to play some games in teams. They played in 5 a side teams and the rules are a little bit different.

Mañawa Assembly

Last week Mañawa hosted the whole school assembly. It is a wonderful opportunity for Rm 15,16,17 and 18 to show some of the work they have been doing and learning. This term Elsie and Sujal were the Mañawa hosts. Here are some photos from our assembly.

Zoo Trip

Today the middle team were lucky enough (thanks to the Warehouse) to visit Auckland Zoo for free. Here are a few photos - lots more to come.

Middle team speech competition

Today the middle team joined to listen to the 8 speech finalists from Room 11, 17, 27 and 31. All children worked hard to prepare their speeches and deliver them in front of middle school. Mrs Schmidt-Uili and Mrs Bol were the judges. There was some great topics and really interesting . From Room 17 Isaiah and Shanaz came 1st equal. We are very proud of them both. Good one.

Assembly 8 August

Today Whau team (juniors) were hosting assembly. They presented some pretty impressive work about Adaptation. Dante and Sujal got certificates for awesome work this term. As you can see Mr Orsler has photo bombed one of our photos! Hamish from the Avondale library came to talk to us about all the cool things happening at the library.

It was also Peace Week at school. We were all very excited about the Peace concert at lunchtime.

Movenmprove

This week Room 17 began a new Kiwisport focus for PE - we are learning some gymnastics skills and how to balance the correct way. Our lessons are for 5 weeks every Tuesday at 11.30am. 
Kayne is helping Shanaz learn to use her arms and upper body to balance.

Paula and Mania are learning some new skills on the high bar - but the bar is not nearly as high as the Commonwealth Games high bar!

Room 18 and Whaea Aggie

Today we celebrated Matariki with a special assembly. Te Whanau hosted the assembly. Whaea Rebecca ran a Matariki quizz and children won cool prizes. Room 17 made Matariki stars out of tin foil and decorated them.
After Matariki Room 18 and Whaea Aggie joined us and we sung some special Matariki songs in Te Reo.
